about today (and a little about yesterday)

° happy to receive cards and parcels from all over the world, among others one from Danielle with sweet gifts and hand-me-downs Spencer has been wearing already. thanks so much sweets!

(the hat says "head in the clouds" and has some lovely clouds stitched on it as well. the vest was knitted by my mum almost 30 years ago. it's all about the clouds - and crowns...)

° also in the package was this pair of mitts. amazing, as i had been browsing Etsy to find a pair of mittens that match my 70ies ski-jacket that i had bought in a second-hand shop in Berlin back in June (to which the shoplady said: hm, funny buying a winter jacket in the middle of summer...) and now i have a pair and a cool button for it as well :)

° Spencer is wearing his very first cloth diaper. i'm quite excited to see how that goes. up to now he seems to be happy with it. it makes a big (cloth diaper) bum, but i find it cute! it's something we're trying for days at home, and maybe later nights at home. and if we're really really good, even days away. but we'll see.

° loving to watch my hubby's face as he watches a DVD and videos of The Band

° enjoying the light from outside that a few hours of sunshine bring us today!

november's child

oh yes, rambling about autumn, it seems to be one of my favourite things to do. autumn wasn't very good to us this year, little sun, just a little change in the foliage due to sudden cold and wet weather... but still, i tried to take it all in. in the past weeks, i took many, many walks to make this baby come. (oh yes, and before that, i took many many walks to make him turn out of his breech presentation). and on my walks i took snapshots with my mobile phone of signs of autumn beneath my feet.

my little autumn baby was born 13 days after the official due date, so no october baby after all. i had somehow imagined taking a few photos with him with colourful leaves in the background, but by the time he was here and we settled in at home, the trees were bare - well, maybe next year. november so far is what you expect it to be, wet and grey and very very dark. but since we're focused on cuddles and family time indoors at the moment anyway, it's okay.

Measuring 51cm, weighing 3360g and with a 36,5cm head circumference.

my blogging break will last for a few more days, as we get settled in at home and are pretty occupied with baby-staring.

thank you to all of you for sharing the excitement and the joy. see/talk to you soon!

cozy inside

ah, it feels so good after a long walk in the park with leaves and trees surrounding us and the grey grey sky above us to be back inside, a pizza in the oven, a cup of tea in one hand, lighted candles, and hubby playing his guitar.

life is good.
